Búho #9...el más pequeñito hasta ahora...está hecho en algodón y ganchillo de 2mm...los ojos son 12mm.

queda uno mas...la semana que viene termino...

Invadiendo Se Alquila / yarnbombing an art show

A última hora de esta tarde nos colamos en la tercera muestra de “Se Alquila” que esta vez hace “Se Alquila Mercado” en el Mercado de la Cebada (La Latina).

Today we decided to “invade” an art show. It is called “Se alquila” (For Rent) and are shows made in unusual places…this time it´s in a food market.

Llegamos con nuestra pieza y entre todos los colores de los grafiteros y las pruebas de sonido nos apoderamos de una columna…casi casi sin preguntarle a nadie…asi que no…no nos busquen en la lista de participantes que no estamos…hemos pillado de sorpresa hasta a algunos de los organizadores…¡asi nos divertimos mas! Y se siente como un yarnbombing en toda regla…jejejeje

Since a lot of graffiti artists were painting for the show no one really noticed us when we came in with a huge knitted/crocheted piece. We chose a column and just started sewing on it. We took by surprise the organizers but (maybe because they were sooo tired) seemed happy we did it. So, I guess you can say we just yarnbomb an art show! Jejeje

La pieza mide mas o menos 2,80m x 1,75m…mientras le cosíamos “el traje” a la columna nos reíamos pensando que parecía que estábamos vistiendo a una señora muy muy gorda.

The piece is 2,80m x 1,75m…we laughed a lot while we were sewing it…we felt like we were dressing very big and fat lady…

Los que si están entre los participantes son los DUDACOLECTIVA FOTOGRÁFICA con su proyecto Merca 2.3, esta vez con un montaje especial para curiosos…¡se los recomiendo!. La muestra comienza mañana jueves 16 y estará hasta el sábado 18 al mediodía.

en el último momento...llegué!...Búho #7...este lo hice con el telar circular que ya iba perdiendo práctica...¿quizás tien los ojos un poco muy separados?...

last minute...Owl #7...I made this one with the circular loom...maybe its eyes are too separated from each other, don´t you think?

creo que llegaré hasta el número 10...asi que quedan 3 más...¿alguna sugerencia?

I think I´ll make to 10 owls...sooo...only 3 more to go...any sugestions?

Novia araña / Spider bride

Hace unos meses colaboré con la diseñadora Anita Singers haciendo este pequeño detalle para un vestido de novia. Por alguna razón la novia quería llevar una tela de araña en su vestido.

A few months ago I did this little appliqué for a Anita Singers´ bride dress. For some reason the bride wanted a spiderweb on her dress…

Me basé en ESTE PATRÓN. Primero hice unas pruebitas con una lana gruesa para familiarizarme con él. Luego ya me puse manos a la obra probando con diferentes hilos y ganchillos muy muy pequeñitos para lo que yo estoy acostumbrada (yo soy mas de ganchillos gordos).

I started using THIS PATTERN. First I worked with a thicker yarn just to get the feeling of the pattern. Then the real worked started: it was the fisrt time I worked with very thin yarn and very small hooks (you know I enjoy big fat hooks).

Hice algunos ajustes al patrón para hacerla mas larga, mas estilizada.Al final el que mejor me funcionó fue el Anchor 6 (3 ply) con un ganchillo de 1,5mm (todo un logro para mi!!!).

I made some adjustments to the pattern so it turned out a little bit longer. After trying several yarn+hook combinations I used Anchor 6 (3 ply) with a 1.5mm hook (a big accomplishment for me!).

Me cuenta Anita que la novia quedó muy contenta con su vestido…como no!...si es una monada!

Me quedaron estas pruebas…tal vez…podría hacer alguna mas...o una araña gigante (tal vez podría intentar bordar un poco...)...y...las podría coser una bolsita de lona,  ¿verdad?...

Now I have this left over spiderwebs…I´m thinking maybe…I could crochet another one...and a big spider (maybe I could embroider a little)...and...they could look cute on a small tote bag????

Aqui #5: con los nudos por fuera y los colores a trozos...como me he sentido esta semana...pero aún asi con ganas de tejer...y espero que (llegado el momento) también de entretejer...

Here is #5: with the knots on the outside and the colors into little pieces...just like I felt this week...but always in the mood for some crocheting...

casi se me va la semana sin el búho...justo a tiempo aqui está #4!!!
Lo bueno de repetir un mismo patrón una y otra vez es que me permite ir jugando con diferentes elementos, probando cosas...como la nariz en punto de cruz de este...además quedó bastante mas pequeñito que los otros (una lanita mas delgada y un ganchillo de 2.75mm en lugar de 4 o 3.5mm).

week is not over yet!...sooo...here is #4!!!
I like repeting a pattern over and over again...it gets to a point were I start experimenting and trying different things...like this nose in cross-stitch. This little guy is a bit smaller than the others since I made it with a thinner yarn and a smaller hook (2.75mm).
